治痰飮流注疼痛. 半夏 二兩, 風化硝 一兩. 右爲末, 薑汁糊和丸梧子大, 薑湯下五十丸. 《入門》
Translation
Treats pain from phlegm-rheum pouring and flowing. Pinellia 2 nyang, weathered mirabilite 1 nyang. Powder the above, form into pills the size of firmiana seeds with ginger juice paste, and take 50 pills down with ginger decoction. — Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Su)
Clinical commentary 臨床
Two ingredients, one idea — pinellia dries the phlegm and weathered mirabilite softens what the phlegm has hardened. Weathered mirabilite is the efflorescent form left after crude mirabilite is exposed to air; it is milder and less purgative than 朴硝, which matters here because the target is phlegm in the channels rather than binding in the bowel.
