Translation

Treats wind phlegm. Pinellia (ginger-processed) 2 don; arisaema (blast-fried), red tangerine peel, bitter orange, red poria and licorice 1 don each. Cut up, make one packet, add 5 slices of ginger, decoct in water and take. — Seui Deukhyobang 得效 (Donguibogam · Damum)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Ijin-tang with arisaema and bitter orange added and the dose of pinellia doubled — the parent formula pushed from maintenance into active clearance. It is the workhorse of the whole chapter and the Bogam cites it constantly, which is why the Hand and Back chapters both had to defer to Damum for its composition. The pairing with Qingzhou White Round Pill in the wind phlegm passage is a matched pair of gears: the pill for the fixed, congealed phlegm behind hemiplegia, the decoction for what is still moving. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
