Translation

Treats summerheat stroke and sudden turmoil with vomiting, diarrhoea and vexing thirst. Talc, 1 nyang; glauberite, gypsum, alisma and licorice, 5 don each; white atractylodes, white poria, ginseng and cinnamon twig, 2 don 5 fun each. Grind to a powder and give 3 don each time, stirred into plain hot water or newly drawn water; ginger decoction will do as well. — Uihak Gangmok 綱目 (Donguibogam · Gwallan)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Igwon-san enlarged: the talc and licorice of the six-to-one powder, with two more cooling minerals, the four ingredients of Sagunja-tang minus one, and a little cinnamon twig. The combination is unusual and deliberate — heavy cold minerals to take the heat out, ginseng and atractylodes to hold the middle together, cinnamon twig to keep the whole from being too cold for a patient who has just emptied himself. Given as a powder in cold water, which is how the chapter wants summer medicines taken. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
