Donguibogam

Translation

Treats dysentery with the urine inhibited and pus and blood in the stool. Make the blood move and the pus in the stool heals of itself; regulate the qi and the dragging-down behind is removed of itself — this is that medicine. White peony, 2 don; coptis, scutellaria and tangkuei tails, 1 don each; rhubarb, 7 fun; costus root, areca, cassia heartwood and licorice, 5 fun each. Cut up, make one packet and decoct in water. — Yeokro 易老 (Donguibogam · Daebyeon)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Built on the dictum that moving the Blood ends the pus and moving the Qi ends the tenesmus — the dysentery formula that treats the straining, not just the stool. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
