Clinical commentary 臨床

Seven aromatics and nothing else — no blood herbs, no tonics, nothing aimed at the back at all. That is the point: in the Qi kind of lumbar pain, the back is where the problem is felt and not where it is. The section that names this formula traces the pain to lost purpose, to worry that has damaged the Spleen, and to anger that has damaged the Liver, and treats accordingly. Sandalwood and clove are the two that reach the chest, which is where this pain actually begins. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
