Translation

Processed Chinese gall 5 don, processed copper powder 2 don, alum and white salt 1.5 don each, Aleppo gall 2 pieces (fried yellow in flour). Powder the above, mix with strong tea, and boil in a double boiler until a black colour appears. Use as in the method above, and it blackens. — Jonghaeng 種杏 (Donguibogam · Mobal)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The same chemistry as Bijeonosu-bang reduced to five ingredients, with the application protocol borrowed by reference rather than restated. The tea is not incidental — it adds further tannin to the mixture. Copper is again the mordant and again the reason the preparation is unusable; recorded as documented. The Jonghaeng Seonbang (種杏仙方) is a Ming popular formulary, and its appearance here marks this as a household technique rather than a physician's prescription. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
