Clinical commentary 臨床

Pinellia Heart-Draining Decoction with fresh ginger added at a chief's dose, and the addition tells you the pattern: water sitting in the stomach, which gives the belching of raw food smell and the rumbling that runs down into diarrhoea. Fresh ginger moves water where dried ginger warms, and the Bogam keeps both. The cold-warm pairing is the heart-draining architecture — coptis and scutellaria above, the two gingers below, ginseng, licorice and dates holding the middle — and of the five heart-draining formulas this is the one for the stomach that sloshes. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
