Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治癲狂初起. 膽製南星ㆍ半夏ㆍ陳皮ㆍ茯苓ㆍ黃連(薑汁炒)ㆍ天麻ㆍ人參ㆍ酸棗仁(炒)ㆍ石菖蒲各一錢. 右剉作一貼, 薑五片水煎服. 再服養血淸心湯補養. 《醫鑑》

Translation

Treats withdrawal-mania at its onset. Arisaema (processed with gall), pinellia, tangerine peel, poria, coptis (stir-fried in ginger juice), gastrodia, ginseng, spiny jujube seed (stir-fried) and acorus, 1 don each. Cut up as one packet and decoct with five slices of ginger. Afterwards take Nourish the Blood and Clear the Heart Decoction to supplement and nourish. — Uigam 醫鑑 (Donguibogam · Sin)

Clinical commentary 臨床

癲狂初起 — at its onset, and it is the only formula in 5.14 aimed at the beginning of an episode rather than its height. 二陳湯 with gall-cured arisaema and coptis for the phlegm heat, and 天麻ㆍ酸棗仁ㆍ石菖蒲 for the spirit.
