Translation

Korean angelica treats the hundred diseases of women, and treats abdominal pain after delivery. Powdered angelica 3 don, decocted in water and taken. It is called Dokseong-tang (Yangbang 良方). ○ For the stabbing pain of blood, angelica is used, being a drug that harmonizes the blood. Where the stabbing pain is from accumulated blood, peach kernel, carthamus and the head of the angelica root should be used. (Dansim 丹心)

Clinical commentary 臨床

獨聖, the solitary sage — one drug alone, and the corpus reserves that name for a single medicinal held to answer a whole class of complaint. 治婦人百病, treating the hundred diseases of women, is the broadest claim in the Women chapter and angelica is the drug that carries it: it appears in more formulas in that chapter than anything else. The distinction appended from Danxi is the useful part — angelica for a pain in the blood, peach kernel and carthamus where the blood has accumulated. A formula of this name from the Internal Damage chapter, built on tangerine peel, is registered separately as dokseong-tang-naesang. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
