治腎虛腰痛, 目眩耳聾, 面黑羸瘦. 胡蘆巴ㆍ破故紙(炒)ㆍ川練肉ㆍ茴香ㆍ續斷各一兩半, 桃仁ㆍ杏仁ㆍ山藥ㆍ白茯苓各一兩. 右爲末, 蜜丸梧子大, 空心, 鹽湯下五七十丸. 《三因》

Translation

Treats Kidney vacuity lumbar pain, with dizzy vision and deaf ears, a blackened face and a wasted body. Fenugreek, dry-fried psoralea, toosendan flesh, fennel, and teasel root, 1 nyang 5 don each; peach kernel, apricot kernel, dioscorea, and white poria, 1 nyang each. Clinical commentary 臨床

The indication reaches past the back to the whole picture of decline — dizziness, deafness, a darkening face, a body that is thinning — which is the chapter describing what a failing Kidney looks like from across the room.
