Treats cold rheum and cold phlegm in the diaphragm. Pinellia (processed) 3 nyang; dry ginger (blast-fried), white atractylodes (dry-roasted) and tangerine peel 2 nyang each. Clinical commentary 臨床

The companion to Warm the Center Pill, and the difference between them is worth noticing. Warm the Center works on the qi dynamic with four acrid peels and gingers; this one adds pinellia and atractylodes and so works on the fluid itself. Ginger appears three times over — dry ginger in the formula, ginger juice in the binder, ginger decoction as the vehicle — which is the classical way of saying that the warmth must reach the medicine at every stage rather than only at the end. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
