Translation

Treats damp heat flowing downward, with both legs numb and wooden, wilting and weak, or with a heat as though branded with fire. Atractylodes soaked in rice water 6 nyang; wine-fried phellodendron 4 nyang; achyranthes 2 nyang. Powder the above and bind with a flour paste into pills the size of parasol-tree seeds; take 50–70 pills with a ginger-and-salt decoction. — Jeongjeon 正傳 (Donguibogam · Jok)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The Two Marvels with achyranthes added, and the addition is what makes it a leg formula — achyranthes leads the other two down where they are wanted. This is one of the most widely used formulas in modern practice for damp-heat conditions of the lower limbs, and it descends directly from the two-herb pair earlier in this chapter. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
