Translation

Treats blood accumulation, blood lumps and blood gu in women. Rhubarb 8 nyang, powdered; sparganium and curcuma 1 nyang each, both roasted and powdered. Boil the rhubarb with vinegar until thick and use it to bind pills the size of a mung bean. Take thirty to fifty down with plain hot water. — Gogeum Uigam 醫鑑 (Donguibogam · Jeokchwi)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Rhubarb at eight nyang against one each of the other two — a formula that is essentially rhubarb with a blood-breaking pair folded in, and the rhubarb is used twice over, as powder and as the vinegar-boiled binder. Compare Vinegar-Boiled Sparganium Pill above, which inverts the ratio and keeps rhubarb to five don: same three-medicinal idea, opposite decisions about force. **Contains a strong purgative at high dose. Contraindicated in pregnancy and not suitable for self-administration.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
