Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑
治小結胸. 半夏(製) 五錢, 黃連 二錢半, 瓜蔞(大者) 四分之一. 右剉, 作一貼, 水二盞, 先煎瓜蔞至一盞, 乃入半夏ㆍ黃連, 煎至半, 去滓溫服. 未利再服, 利下黃涎便安. 《仲景》 ○一方加枳實ㆍ黃芩ㆍ桔梗尤效. 《入門》 ○瓜蔞惟剉其殼, 勿剉其子. 剉其子者非也. 《丹心》
Translation
Treats a minor chest bind. Processed pinellia, 5 don; coptis, 2 don 5 fun; a quarter of a large trichosanthes fruit. Cut up, make one packet; take two cups of water and first decoct the trichosanthes down to one cup, then put in the pinellia and coptis, decoct down to half, strain and take warm. If there is no purging, take again; once yellow drool is purged downward the patient is at ease. — Junggyeong 仲景 ○ One version adds unripe bitter orange, scutellaria and platycodon, which is still more effective. — Immun 入門 ○ Of the trichosanthes, cut up only the husk; do not cut up the seeds.
