Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑
此藥久服則身輕, 隨風而去, 如列子之乘虛. 若髮白者, 從根而黑, 如未白者, 永不白. 有不信者, 將藥拌飯與白猫吃, 一月卽黑. 地骨皮ㆍ生地黃ㆍ石菖蒲ㆍ牛膝ㆍ遠志ㆍ兎絲子(酒煮). 右等分, 爲細末, 蜜丸梧子大, 每三五十丸, 空心, 溫酒, 或鹽湯送下. 修製忌鐵器, 及婦人雞犬見. 《海藏》
Translation
Taken long, this medicine lightens the body so that one goes off with the wind, as Liezi rode the void. If the hair is white it blackens from the root; if not yet white, it will never whiten. For anyone who doubts it — mix the medicine into rice and feed it to a white cat, and in a month the cat turns black. Lycium root bark, raw rehmannia, acorus, achyranthes, polygala, and cuscuta (boiled in wine), in equal parts. Powder finely, form into honey pills the size of firmiana seeds, and take 30 to 50 on an empty stomach, sent down with warm wine or salt decoction. In preparing it avoid iron vessels, and do not let women, chickens, or dogs see it. — Haejang 海藏 (Donguibogam · Mobal)
