Translation
Treats qi phlegm. Take one batch of Three Immortals Pill, remove the cyperus, and add 2 nyang of powdered red tangerine peel. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Damum)
Clinical commentary 臨床
The same fermented leaven as Three Immortals Pill with one substitution: cyperus out, red tangerine peel in. Cyperus courses depressed qi in the liver and moves it outward; red tangerine peel moves qi in the middle and downward. The swap is what turns a damp phlegm formula into a qi phlegm one, and it shows how narrowly these two categories are distinguished — the phlegm base is identical, and only the medicinal that decides the direction changes. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
