Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治傷寒熱病, 發熱ㆍ泄瀉. 柴胡一錢六分, 澤瀉一錢三分, 白朮ㆍ猪苓ㆍ赤茯苓各七分半, 半夏七分, 黃芩ㆍ人參ㆍ甘草各六分, 桂心三分. 右剉, 作一貼, 入薑三片, 水煎溫服. 《丹心》

Translation

Treats cold damage and heat disease with fever and diarrhoea. Bupleurum, 1 don 6 fun; alisma, 1 don 3 fun; atractylodes, polyporus and red poria, 7 fun 5 ri each; pinellia, 7 fun; scutellaria, ginseng and licorice, 6 fun each; cinnamon heartwood, 3 fun. Cut up, make one packet, add three slices of ginger and decoct warm. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · Han, lower)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Minor Bupleurum and Five-Ingredient Poria Powder combined, with every dose scaled down so that the cup holds two formulas without doubling its strength. The reasoning is direct: fever with diarrhoea is a shaoyang pattern in which the water is also failing to separate below, and treating either half alone leaves the other.
